IPL FEVER STRIKES JAIL INMATES
IPL fever struck the four walls of Ropar jail, on the concluding day of the sports meet of prisoners. A T-20 cricket match was played between the team of prisoners of Ludhiana central jail and prisoners of Ropar jail, in which the Ludhiana central jail inmates registered an easy victory.
Prisoners of Ludhiana jail set a target of 120 at the loss of 5 wickets in 20 overs. The Ropar inmates scattered at a total of 42 runs and lost the match by 78 runs.
On Sunday, teams of prisoners of Ludhiana central jail, Borstal Jail Ludhiana and Ropar jail participated in various games. Apart from cricket, volleyball, tug-of-war, badminton and athletic matches were played among the prisoners.
RK Loomba, senior superintendent, Ludhiana central jail appreciated the efforts made by the prisoners.
He said that the government and department have initiated this step to promote sports activities among the prisoners, so that they leave their habit to consume drugs.
