The health department on Wednesday conducted a raid at a medical store in Pindi street and seized huge amounts of habit forming tablets and capsules.

During the raid, a team of the heath department recovered 1 lakh tablets of lomotil, 23,160 capsules of Parvon Spas and 240 bottles of Rexcoff cough syrups.

Sukhveer Chand, drug inspector, said, “The recovered drugs cost around Rs 2. 65 lakh.”

Chand said for selling such habit-forming drugs, chemists needed a licence and were required to maintain a stock register.

“However, the shop that we raided today had the licence, but failed to produce bills of the drugs.”
