Fol­low­ing pub­lic op­po­si­tion to the trans­fer of as­sis­tant com­mis­sioner of po­lice (ACP) North and traf­fic in charge Swa­pan Sharma, the depart­ment can­celled its or­der.

The In­dian Po­lice Ser­vices of­fi­cer had been shifted to chief min­istry's se­cu­rity. His sub­or­di­nates in the traf­fic wing have also ex­pressed hap­pi­ness over the re­ver­sal of his trans­fer or­ders.

In­flu­en­tial peo­ple as well as the com­mon man had ral­lied against the trans­fer as the new spread late on Wed­nes­day.

Mem­bers of the so­cial ser­vice or­gan­i­sa­tions had even sub­mit­ted a mem­o­ran­dum to the top brass of the po­lice to can­cel Sharma's trans­fer or­ders.

Sens­ing the pub­lic mood, chief min­is­rter Parkash Singh Badal who is presently lodged at the home of his as­so­ciate Gurmel Singh near Foun­tain Chowk di­rected the depart­ment to can­cel the trans­fer or­ders of Sharma.

Sharma said that he had not ap­proached any­body for the can­cel­la­tion of his trans­fer. He said that he was lucky to have found the love of peo­ple and would continue to do his duty hon­estly and with com­mit­ment.
