Congress raises pitch against state govt

The party would raise its voice against the state government on April 6, dur­ing the work­ers meet­ing, said Pawan De­wan, pres­i­dent of district Congress (ur­ban), on Tues­day.

De­wan added that top lead­ers of the party will at­tend the meet­ing.

He was speak­ing dur­ing a meet­ing with the mem­bers of Valmiki com­mu­nity and said that the state government is not do­ing enough for the un­priv­i­leged peo­ple of Pun­jab in­clud­ing the mem­bers of the Valmiki com­mu­nity.

‘A lot of funds were be­ing re­leased by the cen­tral government but that was not be­ing pro­vided to the com­mu­nity,’ De­wan added.

The SAD-BJP government had also an­nounced clo­sure of 690 pri­mary schools in the state that would af­fect the ed­u­ca­tion of poor stu­dents, De­wan added.
