MAN THRASHED ON HOLI DIES AT CMC HOSPI­TAL

The man, who was beaten by an ac­quain­tance over a petty is­sue on March 27, suc­cumbed to in­juries on late Wed­nes­day night.

The di­vi­sion num­ber 4 po­lice have ar­rested the ac­cused iden­ti­fied as Sadre, 30, of Kun­dan Puri area on Thurs­day.

In the case reg­is­tered against the ac­cused, the po­lice have added mur­der charges as well. Ear­lier a case of at­tempt to mur­der was reg­is­tered against him.

The 32-year- old de­ceased Mo­ham­mad Noor Alam hailed from Dar­bangha in Bi­har and was re­sid­ing in Mo­halla Guru Har­gob­ind Na­gar. He was a tai­lor by pro­fes­sion.

Mo­ham­mad Ras Alam, brother of the de­ceased said his brother Noor Alam had gone with his friend Mo­ham­mad Parvez on Holi. But when he failed to re­turn, he went look­ing for him. At around 10.30pm he found his brother stand­ing near Nul­lah Bridge in Guru Har­gob­ind Na­gar.

Mean­while, he said Sadre pounced came in an ine­bri­ated con­di­tion and started thrash­ing him. He fled af­ter that.

Ras Alam said he im­me­di­ately rushed his brother to Ram Char­i­ta­ble hospi­tal, from where he was re­ferred to CMC hospi­tal on April 2, where he suc­cumbed to in­juries on late Wed­nes­day night.

In­spec­tor Vinod Ku­mar, SHO at po­lice sta­tion di­vi­sion num­ber 4 said Mo­ham­mad Noor Alam had ear­lier en­tered into a scuf­fle with Sadre around 15 days ahead of Holi. The ac­cused was un­der the in­flu­ence of liquor. He had some per­sonal grudges against Noor Alam and hence thrashed him.

“We came to know that the ac­cused has a crim­i­nal record. Some cases have been reg­is­tered against him in Delhi and we are ver­i­fy­ing them,” the SHO said.
