GADVASU enlightens goat farmers on tricky subjects
The goat farmers association held a meeting at the department of veterinary and animal husbandry extension education, Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University ( GADVASU) here on Wednesday.
The meetingh was attended by 20 goat farmers from across Punjab and was chaired by Dr JS Bhatti, head of the department.
The scientists at GADVASU delivered lectures on different technical aspects of goat rearing. Assistant professor Dr Chanderahas educated the attendees over management of stall-fed goat rearing.
Monthly seminars will be organised for members of the association on the first Friday of every month
Professor Dr MP Gupta disseminated information about worm infestation and its prevention in sheep and goat.
Assistant professor Dr Shakruti Sharma delved into preventing infectious abortions in goats. Professor Dr HK Verma shared views on reproduction in goats.
Dr Bhatti said monthly seminars for the member of the association would be organised on the first Friday of every month.
He requested all goat farmers to regularly participate in the seminar.
The association unanimously selected Paramjeet Singh Gill of Chugwan village in the Moga disrictt as the president; Karaminder Singh Sidhu of Gurdaspur as the vice- president; Kulwant Singh of Bagrari village in the Faridkot district as the secretary.
Association coordinator Dr MP Gupta informed that goat farmers could call up 0161- 2414005 to register their names for training sessions.
