GADVASU en­light­ens goat farm­ers on tricky sub­jects

The goat farm­ers as­so­ci­a­tion held a meet­ing at the de­part­ment of vet­eri­nary and an­i­mal hus­bandry ex­ten­sion ed­u­ca­tion, Guru An­gad Dev Vet­eri­nary and An­i­mal Sciences Univer­sity ( GADVASU) here on Wed­nes­day.

The meet­ingh was at­tended by 20 goat farm­ers from across Pun­jab and was chaired by Dr JS Bhatti, head of the de­part­ment.

The sci­en­tists at GADVASU de­liv­ered lec­tures on dif­fer­ent tech­ni­cal as­pects of goat rear­ing. As­sis­tant pro­fes­sor Dr Chan­der­a­has ed­u­cated the at­ten­dees over man­age­ment of stall-fed goat rear­ing.

Monthly sem­i­nars will be or­gan­ised for mem­bers of the as­so­ci­a­tion on the first Fri­day of ev­ery month

Pro­fes­sor Dr MP Gupta dis­sem­i­nated in­for­ma­tion about worm in­fes­ta­tion and its pre­ven­tion in sheep and goat.

As­sis­tant pro­fes­sor Dr Shakruti Sharma delved into pre­vent­ing in­fec­tious abor­tions in goats. Pro­fes­sor Dr HK Verma shared views on re­pro­duc­tion in goats.

Dr Bhatti said monthly sem­i­nars for the mem­ber of the as­so­ci­a­tion would be or­gan­ised on the first Fri­day of ev­ery month.

He re­quested all goat farm­ers to reg­u­larly par­tic­i­pate in the sem­i­nar.

The as­so­ci­a­tion unan­i­mously se­lected Param­jeet Singh Gill of Chug­wan vil­lage in the Moga dis­rictt as the pres­i­dent; Kara­min­der Singh Sidhu of Gur­daspur as the vice- pres­i­dent; Kul­want Singh of Ba­grari vil­lage in the Farid­kot district as the sec­re­tary.

As­so­ci­a­tion co­or­di­na­tor Dr MP Gupta in­formed that goat farm­ers could call up 0161- 2414005 to reg­is­ter their names for train­ing ses­sions.
