HT Ludhiana Live - - Education - HT Live Correspondent chdlivedesk@hindustan CHANDIGARH:

Students of National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research ( NIPER), SAS Nagar, continued their resumed strike on the second consecutive day on Tuesday as well and asserted they would continue to protest till their demands were fulfilled.

Students said they were forced to resume their protests due to the “failure” of NIPER administration to fulfill their demands.

They said that the authorities had promised to meet their demands within 15 days, but did nothing.

Students claimed that nobody from the union ministry of chemicals and fertilisers or NIPER board of governors came to meet them.

The demands of the students included recognition of NIPER degree, a permanent director, placements of students, appointment of dedicated placement officers, improvement of Internet facilities in hostel, more hostel facilities, and rationalised student-faculty ratio.

Significantly, the NIPER board’s decision of terminating the services of a faculty member, Dr Parikshit Bansal and Dr Neeraj Kumar, had triggered protests at the institute.
