Minor among 2 held for assaulting man

BHARATPUR: Two people, including a minor, was arrested on Sunday and a search in on for a third person in connection with the brutal assault of a man in Kotputli-Behror district, police said.

While a detailed probe is underway, preliminar­y investigat­ion revealed that the victim was assaulted after he failed to return an amount of ₹1,600 he had borrowed from one of the arrested persons, police added.

The alleged assault, police said, took place on May 2 but came to light on May 9 after a purported video of it went viral.

“Harish Goyal, a resident of Gandala village under Neemrana police station registered a complaint against three people on May 9 after the purported video of the assault went viral. In the video, his son is seen being stripped half-naked and brutally assaulted by the accused,” Neemrana police station in-charge Mahendra Yadav said.

While Mohit Yadav (19) was arrested along with the minor, a search is on for prime accused Eklavya Yadav, who is absconding, police said.

Police said that in his complaint, Goyal said that his son borrowed ₹1,600 from Eklavya a month ago. On May 2, Eklavya took his son to a secluded area where all the accused allegedly stripped him half-naked and brutally thrashed him, police added.

“The complainan­t said he was not aware of the assault till he came across the viral video. The accused thrashed the victim and threatened to kill him if he disclosed the incident to anyone. A detailed probe is underway,” a police officer said.
