New food park com­ing up in Ker­ala

Ker­ala Chief Min­is­ter Pi­narayi Vi­jayan and Union Min­is­ter for Food Pro­cess­ing In­dus­tries Har­sim­rat Kaur Badal laid the foun­da­tion stone for a mega Rs 119.02-crore food pro­cess­ing park in Kan­jikode near Paakkad last month. Ker­ala In­dus­trial In­fra­struc­ture De­vel­op­ment Cor­po­ra­tion (KINFRA) is de­vel­op­ing the food park with fi­nan­cial as­sis­tance from the Union gov­ern­ment. Ker­ala would en­cour­age food pro­cess­ing and value ad­di­tion of agri­cul­tural prod­ucts to help farm­ers get re­mu­ner­a­tive prices for their pro­duce, noted Mr Vi­jayan. Ms Badal said that her min­istry was fo­cus­ing on boost­ing the food pro­cess­ing in­dus­try to fa­cil­i­tate dou­bling of farm­ers' in­come.
