Cen­tre's guide­lines for Op­er­a­tion Greens

The Union Food Pro­cess­ing Min­istry has is­sued guide­lines for Op­er­a­tion Greens, an ini­tia­tive an­nounced in the Union Bud­get with an out­lay of Rs 500 crore. The pro­gramme aims to sta­bilise sup­ply of tomato, onion and potato (TOP) crops and en­sure their avail­abil­ity through the year with­out price volatil­ity. As a part of the short-term sta­bil­i­sa­tion mea­sures, the Food Pro­cess­ing Min­istry will pro­vide 50 per cent sub­sidy for trans­port of these crops from pro­duc­tion to stor­age and for hir­ing ap­pro­pri­ate stor­age fa­cil­i­ties. The min­istry will also give fi­nan­cial as­sis­tance for longterm, in­te­grated, value-chain, de­vel­op­ment projects re­lated to the TOP crops.
