WiFi, CCTVs in Delhi by 2020

The Delhi government's flagship CCTV project has begun in the national capital and will be completed by April next year. September 2020 is the deadline for providing free WiFi facility to citizens of Delhi. Although both were the ruling AAP's poll promises when it came to power with a landslide victory in February 2015, it took the Kejriwal government over four and a half years to get the projects off the ground.

The Delhi government will start installing cameras across the city from mid-June. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal claimed that the project is likely to be completed by December. To provide free internet to the city by installing 10,000 WiFi hotspots across the national capital.

While the government is planning to install approximat­ely 2,000 cameras per Assembly constituen­cy, across all 70 constituen­cies of Delhi, to improve the security and safety of Delhi’s citizens, it plans to install 10,000 WiFi hotspots.
