India-Norway sign joint research pacts
India and Norway have signed a number of pacts for joint research in key areas and also held first trade and investment dialogue in a hectic week of bilateral events.
Top universities of India and Norway will work together on subjects like biophotonics, health and diagnostic tools, nanotechnology and renewable energy.
Director-General of Norwegian Ministry of Education and Research, Anne Line Wold, was in New Delhi leading a delegation of top educational institutions of her country to sign three Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs).
UiT, The Arctic University of Norway signed pacts with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi and Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology for cooperation in a number of fields and exchange of students. A separate MoU was signed involving Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir) and Mandi (Himachal Pradesh) and Norwegian University of Science and Technology to study landslides, tunnels, hydropower and cold region technology. During the talks, New Delhi and Oslo discussed ways to increase the mobility of students between the two sides.
