IN THE CITY

Bakers nest

After a bakery and confectionary course in the UK, Sahil Taneja, 28, returned to Hyderabad and started Concu Cakes. Literally translated, Concu is French for ‘ crafted’ or ‘ designed’ and Sahil’s creations are indeed works of art. There’s no menu or seating space here but everything is custom made. The flavours of his cakes are totally unique— we were particularly intrigued by the chocolate and passion fruit as well as dark chocolate and raspberry cakes. For the experimental palate, there are green tea and lavender flavoured macaroons that are not available anywhere else in town. Besides topping his cakes with macaroons, he also makes cakes with a macaroon base, which is another first in the city. But the icing on the cake, quite literally, are his high end theme cakes like the aquarium cake he made with fish bowls and yes, real fish, incorporated between tiers of cake. Cost Rs 1,300 ( per kg) onwards for cakes At G4, Srinivasa Towers, Begumpet Tel 9985800031
