This treasure trove of literature stocks more than 4000 books— many of them out of print and difficult to find even in this era of internet shopping. A voracious reader and an even more avid collector, founder- owner Govindaraju’s passion for old books survived through his career as a consultant in labour law. Today, he prides himself on being the owner of priceless collectibles such as a book of poetry by Alexander Pope, published in 1820. Other gems in his literary treasure trove include books such as Penguin’s first paperback collections, published in 1935, first edition Pelican books edited by former Defence Minister, VK Krishna Menon— including Vision and Design by Roger Fry ( 1937) and Corwell City Libraby’s Upper Egypt, written by CB Klunzinger, dated 1878. If you stay long enough and convince Govindaraju of your passion for vintage, he’ll even show you ancient newspaper advertisements and his highly cherished copy of MK Gandhi’s editorial in the now defunct magazine – Harijan. He even prices his books on the basis of how much of a book worm he perceives the customer to be. WHERE No 45/ 50, 2nd Main Road, R. A. Puram
