Want to celebrate Tamil culture? Then what better way to make a statement than to wear it? Going with that idea, entrepreneurs J Senthilnathan and Nandhini Charanyaa set up their outlet for tees and accessories. Seeking respite from the cut- throat mainstream advertising industry, the duo set out to start a venture that would feed their creative energies and also spread a message they believed in. And it all boiled down to Dude Thamizha, which opened in February this year. They sell t- shirts that scream out popular Tamil cinema one liners and dialogues, and celebrate Madras culture. Some funky themes include the kaapi tradition and the goli soda rage. A popular print is Bajji Huts, a take on Pizza Hut. A little stall, located inside the Citi Centre mall it is a ‘ Tee’ Kadai, as they like to call it. The decor is replete with stuff like candy jars, toy bananas, kitsch lights there are loud Tamil hits playing in the background at almost all times.
