USP A variety of eco- friendly paper products available under one roof

A little known secret of Ahmedabad, the Kalam- Khush paper factory was set up way back in the year 1940 and since its inception has been run by the Gujarat Khadi Gramodyog Mandal. Located right opposite the Gandhi ashram, one can watch the paper making procedure step by step at the factory— right from the grinding and soaking of the pulp, spreading of the prepared mixture on a screen that makes fine flat sheets, drying it using clips and finally putting the finished sheets in a calendar press for that crisp, even finish. These sheets of paper are then stacked in the store as loose sheets or converted into diaries, folders, lamp shades, scrap books, envelopes and greeting cards, all of which are for sale. The paper here is made primarily out of cotton waste and therefore is eco- friendly as well.
