HUE’S COME INTO PLAY
In order to add colour and contrast to living spaces, Tokyo-based Schemata Architects has come up with one-of-a-kind collection of furniture—which includes tables, chairs and stools—by designer Jo Nagasaka. Titled ColoRing, the series uses the traditional wood craft technique of Udukuri to give these pieces a fresh look. The surface is first polished with a sew-grass brush to remove soft tissue and reveal the coarse grain pattern. The grains are then splashed with three different layers of paint, left over from other constructions. The coarse texture is then polished flat and the end result is a flawless piece of furniture with just the right hint of bright. www.schemata.jp
