LOOK NORTHEAST POLICY
BJP president Amit Shah is going all out to widen the party’s base in the Northeast. Himanta Biswa Sarma, a key architect of the party’s triumph in Assam, has been appointed convenor of the North-East Democratic Alliance. Shah also met all non-Congress MLAs recently in Guwahati. Helping him along is the fact that the Congress seems to have learned no lesson from its defeat. The tussle between Gaurav Gogoi, son of ex-CM Tarun Gogoi, and Sarma was behind its rout. Yet Gogoi Jr, observer in charge of Tripura, called a top party functionary and told him to work hard. The offended leader is now in talks with Ram Madhav and Sarma.
