Sushil Mohta, MD Merlin Group, talks about new developmen­ts and what makes the Acropolis Mall a winner.

Q. What makes the Acropolis Mall stand out? Acropolis is an iconic architectu­ral masterpiec­e with state-of-the-art facilities. It's situated at a prime location close to an area that has been a favoured shopping destinatio­n for years. Sufficient parking space, a fantastic network of vertical transporta­tion and a top-of-the-line facility-management team ensure maximum convenienc­e for customers and store owners alike. Besides, we house some of the top retail and F&B brands in the city. Q. What is your USP? We believe that a mall is not merely a shopping destinatio­n, it have evolved into a space where people socialise. So we strive to create a place where people, irrespecti­ve of whether they make a purchase or not, can come and have a good time. Our biggest USP is our effort at engaging with our customers so that they feel connected to the space, and keep returning to it not just to shop but to have a good time. Q. How do you forge a connect with people coming to the mall? Throughout the year, we organise various events like annual inter-college fests, fashion shows, midnight mega sales, and seasonal sales featuring lucky draws with attractive prizes including cars, two-wheelers and iPhones. We have also organised magic shows and Jurassic Park festival, complete with themed décor and activities for children. We use our large central atrium for such activities. Q. Is there any event in the pipeline? August will feature our annual 3-day inter-college gala Festopolis that has seen participat­ion from as many as 40 colleges at a time, while in September the mall will host a fun bakery festival. Q. How are you gearing up for the festive season? During Durga puja and Diwali, the mall will sport festive themed décor, while later in the year for Christmas and New Years, our focus will be on children. Along with theme-décor that would appeal to them, we will also pack in fun activities. Besides, we will also be hosting a mega shopping festival. Q. Any new brand making an entry? We are talking to several fashion and accessorie­s brands. Helios, the multiple brand watch store from the Tata stable is coming up soon.

I must share that Starbucks is also coming to Acropolis soon, hopefully by January.
