Wearable Defines the New Classic
I’ve always been inspired by how a beautiful jewel can transform a woman emotionally. It is that joy, that moment of elation when a woman wears a jewel for the first time that is captivating. This connection with jewellery shouldn’t just be left to special occasions and vaults; it should be an everyday joy. It is this context that explains the growing interest in wearable and transformable jewellery. Both are very different experiences: while wearable jewellery transforms from a chic day look into a glamorous evening look, transformable jewellery becomes more wearable by morphing into different forms, with an added element of surprise.
MULTI-FUNCTIONAL JEWELLERY
Perhaps the best way to explain this kind of multi-functionality would be through jewels from our collection. The Mughal choker, for instance, is a sculptural diamond necklace that can also be worn as two separate bracelets. Another unique piece, the Mughal necklace, is a long sautoir-style necklace with diamond floral motifs, which can be worn long as a single strand or wrapped around in the form of a shorter, two-strand necklace. In the same collection, are diamond ear studs in a floral motif, which are presented with three coloured wraps, allowing them to be worn in four different ways, to match or colour block an outfit.
EMBRACING VERSATILITY
The contemporary woman, poised and selfconfident, speaks the language of everyday glamour. It is this versatility that has inspired our Nirav Modi Embrace® jewels that can be worn individually or stacked in multiple combinations. Offered in rose gold, white gold and yellow gold, in varying sizes (grand, classic and slim), they go from diamond encrusted to all-gold, enabling exciting personalised variations that encompass a wide range of looks— from subtle to dramatic. Today, we find women adroitly balancing diverse occasions and roles in the same day, perhaps in quick succession. Our Jasmine earrings can easily switch between studs and cascading earrings. The studs may be worn to work, while the longer earrings are easily slipped onto the studs, for an evening out, to create a statement look.
With a growing desire to make a mark, and to strive for individuality, jewellery comes into its own by being dynamic, versatile and unique. Investing in a beautiful jewel marks a special moment, but more importantly, it goes beyond: spanning generations with designs that remain classic and contemporary, even iconic. It is a fine balance that makes a jewel wearable, timeless and iconic, all at once. Along with versatility, I believe a timeless relevance in a jewel’s intrinsic design goes a long way in making that difference.
Jewellery today has to be wearable yet classic; individualistic yet iconic
