KINTSUGI YOG STUDIO

-

It’s a warm

summer evening. Bright pink bougainvillea line the grassy patch at the Kintsugi Yog Studio in east Delhi where the batch of ten is rising from meditative stillness. Lotica, founder and teacher, breaks the silence as she announces the upcoming yoga retreat to her class, “Let’s drop the mind for 3 nights-4 days.” Her class is delighted at the prospect.

Lotica, a Yoga Siromani (teacher) from The International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre says, “Your relationship with anything—be it a thing, person or place—if counter-productive, will rob you of ‘prana’ (vital energy), which leads to disease, and we all are prone to this.” The Kintsugi yoga retreats are designed to help you identify what is blocking your life energy and how to deal with it. The journey outside unravels the journey inside and together they take you exactly where you need to be. “It happened to me, it can happen to you,” says Lotica, who quit a robust 18-year career in editing and publishing to become a full-time yoga practitioner and teacher. Kintsugi, the name of her yoga studio, encapsulates her tryst with yoga. Kintsugi— literally translated to mean golden joinery—is a Japanese art form where broken pottery is repaired with gold, making the piece more beautiful and valuable than before. The daily yoga classes at the studio are designed to make yoga work like gold to transform and empower lives

Expert Speak

“Yoga has worked like Kintsugi in my life. Yoga is the gold. It fills my being with light and love. And yes, looking fit and feeling awesome don’t hurt either. So accept your cracks, for that's from where the light gets in.”
