ASIA ON YOUR PLATE

-

FOO

Foo is the place to go to when you want to eat a whole lot of Asian food tapas with varying flavours. The newest restaurant by well experienced restaurateurs Henry and Keenan Tham and Kishor DF, Foo, meaning celebration in Chinese sits in a refurbished warehouse in Phoenix Mills but the tastefully designed décor transports you into an eclectic space rather than the feeling of dining in a mall. Dramatic tall ceilings, a column of lamps and a Cherry blossom-inspired tree installation light up the sprawling 4500 sq feet restaurant. The menu has 120 dishes, largely focused on small plates or tapas with a large selection of vegetarian fare, all drawn from Japanese and Chinese delicacies and the cuisine of the Far East. The Nikkei cuisine finds place here with a vegetarian twist and the chef makes his own innovative dipping sauces cutting out the factory-manufactured soya sauce from the sushi platter.

DON'T MISS The steamed Foo baskets offer a delectable avocado crisp aja panca yuzu, scallion pancakes, kong po chicken and crispy soft shell crab. The sushi is a must-have especially with the blue-tinged rice that gets it colour from chickpea flowers. The Thai lotus root ceviche is a melange of flavours with lotus root and edamame and spiced with a cream-based sauce.
