THE LAST TIME Hy­der­abad went this hap­pily brusque was when Baahubali was re­leased three years ago. The launch of Ikea on Au­gust 9 was as much of a block­buster smash hit, with a first day first hour ex­cite­ment run­ning wild with shop­pers who thronged out­side the mega home store since the early hours. The Ikea flavour has been fus­ing with the cityscape, with metro pil­lars fea­tur­ing pic­tures of its prod­ucts at tempt­ingly low prices for weeks now. Sim­i­larly, Ikea-themed auto rick­shaws have been do­ing the rounds and the gi­ant dig­i­tal clock at Hitec City counted down the launch. It is one thing to go home shop­ping and quite another to be part of the Ikea ex­pe­ri­ence, with over 7,500 prod­ucts dis­played across a sprawl­ing 4 lakh square feet store space that you can let your­self lose into. From the most af­ford­able to the pre­mium, ev­ery­thing is high qual­ity and in an over­whelm­ing va­ri­ety. And to give rest to your aching feet after the shop­ping ex­pe­ri­ence is the 1000-seater restau­rant at the store, touted to be the big­gest ever in the coun­try.
