Set in a dystopian fu­ture Hindu Rash­tra, this cu­ri­ous mix of em­pow­er­ment fan­tasy and (lit­eral) de­mon­i­sa­tion of Mus­lims comes out of the gate promis­ing tren­chant po­lit­i­cal crit­i­cism. But it soon de­volves into schlocky tor­ture-porn loosely anal­o­gous to the Saw fran­chise. Net­flix


Tim Roth chews the scenery a bit in this B-grade pas­tiche of Quentin Tarantino, the direc­tor who first brought him to no­tice. Still, it’s a ser­vice­able crime story, some­where in the gulf be­tween True De­tec­tive’s Sea­son One (bril­liant) and Sea­son Two (un­watch­able). Hooq
