This grad­u­ate from Le Cor­don Bleu, Paris (2015), grew up look­ing at the cakes her mother, Monica Sood, baked for her brand Monica’s that she set-up 24 years ago in Chandi­garh. “See­ing her en­grossed in bak­ing, it was nat­u­ral for me to be drawn to­wards it, and I started bak­ing at the age of eight,” she re­calls. Gay­a­tri set up Monica's Pud­dings & Pies in 2015.

Ic­ing on the Cake

Armed with a range of healthy op­tions for gift­ing this fes­tive sea­son, Sood is mak­ing five types of cook­ies with whole wheat, seeds, and brown sugar. You can also find 100 per cent whole wheat breads and wal­nut and suji cakes with ap­ple and palm sugar. “We also do gluten free cakes in­clud­ing roasted al­mond, choco­late caramel and spe­cial sugar free cakes for di­a­bet­ics,” says Gay­a­tri.

Fu­ture is all Health

Stress­ing that healthy good­ies are what will guide food busi­nesses in the fu­ture, Gay­a­tri re­veals that she plans to launch a wider range of health prod­ucts soon.
