 The BJP’s first list of 78 can­di­dates has 14 women, the high­est for the party so far. In the 2013 as­sem­bly polls, it had fielded 10 women

 The BJP has given 25 tick­ets to can­di­dates be­low 40 years of age—part of its strat­egy to ap­peal to the youth

 But many old faces re­main in the

fray. Four­teen BJP lead­ers who lost in the 2013 as­sem­bly polls have been given tick­ets again. Of the 12 min­is­ters in the Ra­man Singh cab­i­net, 11 have been re-nom­i­nated; five of those min­is­ters had lost in 2013  Sahus, the largest OBC com­mu­nity in the state, are be­ing wooed by both the BJP and the Congress. The BJP has fielded 10 Sahu can­di­dates in the 51 gen­eral cat­e­gory seats  Ajit Jogi’s fam­ily is mak­ing its pres­ence felt. While Jogi is con­test­ing on a Janta Congress Ch­hat­tis­garh (JCC) ticket; son Amit’s wife Richa is a BSP can­di­date; Jogi’s wife Renu is a Congress ticket as­pi­rant

 Chief Min­is­ter Ra­man Singh’s clos­est ad­vi­sors are a cho­sen few serv­ing/ re­tired bu­reau­crats. Their ad­vice has worked well in the past and they’re play­ing a key role in the 2018 polls as well
