New stores that are as pretty as the prod­ucts they sell


A charm­ing her­itage bun­ga­low plays muse and host to Casa Buzallong in Vado­dara. Lo­cated on the ground floor, spread over 3,000 sq ft, it is home to fur­ni­ture, ac­cent pieces, arte­facts and ac­ces­sories. The store’s high ceil­ings, mo­saic tiles and bright colour scheme cre­ates the per­fect back­drop for be­spoke so­fas, cute teapoys, twin­kling lamps, paint­ings and pretty fur­nish­ings.

When crick­eter Shikhar Dhawan and wife Ae­sha Mukher­jee, a well known kick­boxer, de­cided to ven­ture into home decor, they be­gan by chris­ten­ing it DaONE Home, in­spired by the crick­eter’s nick­name. The Mum­bai launch saw the cou­ple do­ing up the liv­ing room, cosy cor­ners, bed­room and din­ing ar­eas with their home tex­tile range, bed and ta­ble linen and cush­ions.

In the heart of North Goa lies a 90-year-old villa with Por­tuguese in­flu­ences. The 4,000 sq ft Goan villa is now home to Vaish­navipra­tima, a store that spe­cialises in arte­facts, fur­ni­ture and in­te­rior de­sign. The stu­dio gets its name from its founder and in­te­rior de­signer Vaish­navipra­tima Ko­dakalla. From beau­ti­fully hand­crafted mir­rors, chests of draw­ers, con­soles, book shelves, bar units and wing chairs made by In­dian ar­ti­sans to cush­ions, throws, rugs and block-print­ing art, there’s a lot to choose from. They even have an open café space.
