Chilling On A Beach, But Far From It

- By Amolak Singh

IMAGINE SITTING IN A cabana, next to the sand, sipping on a piña colada while you soak in the freshness from a couple of palm trees next to you. The skies are clear, the music is nice and friends are huddled close. In short, if you think Goa is too much of a distance, Chandigarh’s newest lounge Lazy Shack promises to sway and offer you the ambience of India’s favourite laidback travel destination.

Located in the back alley of Sector 26, this concept bar and eatery is designed to give you a happy feel. Eye-catching interiors make you smile the moment you enter— nothing loud or garish, only soothing colours. A mirrored arch arcade tunnel covered in hues of subdued red and blue lighting welcome you, leading towards the main seating area and dance floor.

Nothing could have prepared the city for an experience that is so unique and refreshing in a day and age where the F&B industry here is never short of copycats who seldom pat any attention to detail.

The food is no less exciting. Must try dishes include the Goan fish curry, lobster sizzler, fish & chips and the Chinese parcel. Best part being, everything tastes authentic and does not have the usual Punjabi tadka. Casual dining fare at its best, Lazy Shack’s selection of tropical delights extends into the beverage menu as well. We went in for the tropical julep, served straight from a coconut. The beverage selection comprises more than 50 cocktails and mocktails, including a number of beach-inspired pick-me-ups to quench your thirst.

Owner Kunal Kansal says, “I want people to come here and just relax. Be yourself – there are no rules to follow here,” he says. MEAL FOR TWO Rs 750 (exclusive of liquor and taxes AT SCO 44 (Backside), Sector 26, Chandigarh TEL 8760100045
