Q. Gully Boy was inspired by the lives of Naezy and Divine. Should there be a Baba Sehgal biopic?
I was a simple guy from Lucknow. Moving to Delhi was a big deal. My father would call and ask me to continue my job at the Delhi Electric Supply Undertaking. In Bombay, I was going to meet all the music directors.
Q. Rap is associated with rage, but your verses aren’t aggressive.
Rap is rhythm and poetry. Some American rappers were killed, some imprisoned. But even Eminem changed his tune. In India, too, this cannot sustain because once you have spoken your story, what follows after that? I like Emiway Bantai. He has a lot of content.
Q. What attracted you to Yamraj’s role in the web series Bhoot Purva?
The makers said that Yamraj is Baba Sehgal. He’s a funny guy who is always clicking selfies and doing TikTok videos. He raps too.
Who would play you in your biopic?
I can’t see anyone playing me as of now. I think I am fit to play myself still, if anyone is interested in making a movie on my life.

Q. In some of them you tag celebrities. Has anyone responded?
DJ Snake and DJ Khaled replied on Instagram. So, I used it to reach out to them for a collaboration. Snake said he didn’t understand half of it.
