With a strong emphasis on research and innovation right from the undergraduate level, Shiv Nadar University (SNU) is a multidisciplinary university offering students courses across all fields such as humanities and social sciences, natural sciences, and engineering and business. At SNU, students at the undergraduate level are required to engage in research for a year as part of their curriculum
and the university has an annual extra-curricular Opportunities for Undergraduate Research (OUR) programme in place. It has also taken unique initiatives on various other fronts and BA (Research) in International Relations was started in 2018. An MoU was also signed with the Centre for Joint Warfare Studies (CENJOWS) to collaborate academically on matters related to international relations, regional and global security. A related MoU was signed with the Institute of Chinese Studies (ICS) and joint programmes have been planned in future as well. The teaching-learning methodology at SNU is well-thought out. Rupamanjari Ghosh, Vice-Chancellor, SNU, says, “We thought through the curriculum content as well as its mode of delivery. The content is dynamic and flexible and the mode is active or participatory so that students learn by doing. The key word is engage.” Learning at SNU extends beyond classrooms. “While we are academically serious, there are many clubs and technical societies on campus and an excellent sports complex for students to pursue their passions besides the curriculum,” adds Ghosh.
