Symbiosis International (SIU) (Deemed University) has 48 academic institutions which offer courses that focus on the holistic development of the students rather than training them to be specialists only in their chosen field of study. So, they have a choice-based credit system where students do core subjects but also take up electives and liberal arts. The mission of SIU is to promote international understanding through quality education
and it attracts students from around the world. The university offers courses in eight faculties—law, management, computer studies, health and biological sciences, media and communication, humanities and social sciences and engineering. SIU has 103 academic programmes, which include 43 postgraduate degree programmes, 26 under graduate degree programmes, 22 postgraduate diploma programmes and 11 diploma programmes. In all programmes, the focus is on making the students industry-ready so the courses are updated, industry experts visit for special sessions and lectures and the academic programme has industry internships. To promote global exposure and cultural exchange, SIU has partnered with various universities and institutes across the world such as France, Germany, UK, Netherlands, Portugal, US, Canada, Japan, Singapore, Australia, and New Zealand for academic collaborations. The global immersion programme allows students to study abroad at a university of their choice for a semester, attend summer schools or join internships. With its India Study Programme, SIU offers a short-term programme for international students to experience academics and cultural activities through classroom sessions, heritage walks, outbound trips and visits to NGOs.
