Grooming is a big market in India and there are several career opportunities for those who are trained. In order to streamline the approach towards hair, beauty and spa education, and to map the Indian beauty industry on the international platform, Blossom Kochhar College of Creative Arts & Design (BKCCAD) was started with its first international association with Pivot Point. The school now has 10 such affiliations. For seamless transition from the place of study to the area of work, the school trains students in every aspect by offering courses and specialisations in hair dressing, styling, cutting, colouring, and in beauty and make-up such

as special effect makeup, cinema make-up and media make-up.

IN THE CLASS There is a well-defined day-to-day lesson plan, the curriculum has been designed in line with suggestions from international partners, and a weekly evaluation of the student’s performance is done. Students learn from demo trainings and practice on either mannequins or clients directly. “Almost 80 per cent of the course is practical based. The learning capability of students differ in a group; some learn by hearing, some by seeing while some are kinesthetic who learn by feeling,” says Blossom Kochhar, Chairperson of Blossom Kochhar Group of Companies. To excel in this field, scientific and artistic principles have to work simultaneously for a person to become a hair dresser or a make-up artist and the institute is working towards nurturing the fundamentals of the subject.
