J&K Peoples Democratic Party Founded by former Union home minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed, it’s now run by his daughter and former CM Mehbooba Mufti Bahujan Samaj Party Inherited from Kanshi Ram, Mayawati is the only visible leader; her brother Anand Kumar is national V-P, his son Akash Anand is the national coordinato­r Telugu Desam Party

N.T. Rama Rao’s party. Son-in-law N. Chandrabab­u Naidu is the current chief, is likely to pass the baton to son Nara Lokesh All India Majlis-eIttehadul Muslimeen Set up in 1927, it was relaunched in 1957 by Abdul Wahed Owaisi. Son Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi took over, followed by grandson Asaduddin Owaisi J&K National Conference

The party’s reins have gone from founder Sheikh Abdullah to son Farooq Abdullah to now his grandson Omar Abdullah Rashtriya Janata Dal

Founded by Lalu Yadav. His younger son Tejashwi is the de facto head, but faces challenges from siblings Tej Pratap and Misa Bharati Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam

Former Tamil Nadu CM M. Karunanidh­i headed the DMK from 1969 till his death in 2018. Son M.K. Stalin is the current president Nationalis­t Congress Party Founded by Sharad Pawar, P.A. Sangma, and Tariq Anwar. The party was founded by former PM H.D. Deve Gowda. Son H.D. Kumaraswam­y is now at the helm YSR Congress Party

Founder Jagan Mohan Reddy is the supreme leader; mother Y.S. Vijayamma is the party president
