Jharkhand is clearly the best state for IPS officers who want to make a quick transition to politics. With assembly polls scheduled next month, an ADG-rank 1987 batch IPS officer, Rezi Dungdung, has taken VRS to contest polls. In August, the Congress had picked 1972 batch IPS officer Rameshwar Oraon to succeed former IPS officer Ajoy Kumar, who had jumped ship from the Jharkhand Vikas Morcha to the Congress and is now with the Aam Aadmi Party. The saffron camp, too, has its share of ex-officers, like DGP Vishnu Dayal Ram, a sitting BJP MP.
