Seven parameters were chosen to rank the districts in agriculture. Karbi Anglong ranked in the top three in most parameters— contribution of agriculture to total district GDP (#1), percentage of net irrigated area to net sown area (#2), agriculture GDP per capita (#3), cropped area out of the total agricultural area (#1) and percentage of labourers employed in agriculture (#2)
MOST IMPROVED NALBARI
Nalbari is one of the largest and most socio-politically vibrant districts in lower Assam
Why it won
Per capita agricultural GDP increased from Rs 11,848 in 2011 to Rs 22,771 in 2017. The area under cash crops in Nalbari increased by 190 times from 201112 to 2016-17, recording highest growth among districts. The percentage of labourers employed in the agricultural sector increased from 49 per cent to 51 per cent in a span of six years, from 2011 to 2017
