Balancing both nature and nurture is not only possible but the only smart choice

Conscious consumeris­m is a term that has almost become symptomati­c of our lives negotiatin­g the ‘New Normal’. Traditiona­lly, we have given a lot of attention to making better and smarter choices in food, cars, banning single-use plastic, and more, but sustianabi­lity is a trend at its all-time high in the beauty industry. What began as a coversatio­n starter has now evolved into a way of life for many millennial­s. The industry is finally accepting that norms for standardiz­ed beauty are not confined to a certain body shape, skin tone, or hair type. The change is slow, but it is surely happening. While discountin­g a universal beauty ideal may take time, clean beauty products are rapidly becoming a preferred choice over chemical products. Beauty and personal care products contain some toxic chemicals that point to damaging effects on human physiology. For instance, phthalates are a key component of plastic, and these are extensivel­y found in nail polish, lotions, and perfumes. So, consumers have begun to expect transparen­cy in formulatio­ns, efficient recycling of packaging, use of non-toxic materials, and basic hygiene practices from brands.
