In December 2021, the Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) Undertaking became the first bus service provider in the country to introduce smart cards and a mobile app, both named ‘Chalo’. The app is used for booking tickets and live tracking of bus movements. Two years ago, BEST had brought in electric buses. These initiatives have helped reduce losses, waiting time and use of fuel.
