Nothing like some healthy competition to get government officials going. Or so Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath hopes with a new internal ranking system. Based on feedback from the CM’s helpline number and portal, officials and departments that solve public grievances on priority will get additional marks. Yogi recently announced the top 10 government departments, district magistrates, municipal corporations, development authorities and police stations. The CM also conducts division-wise reviews of development projects, seeking details of expenses from the additional chief secretary of finance. Any negligence will invite action, they have been warned. Laggards, too, beware. Marks will matter.
