It almost took a pandemic for most people to realise that life is precious and each moment is to be savoured and honoured, no matter the occasion or lack of it. While the route to your celebration may embark on different paths, uncorking a Louis XIII Cognac is definitely one way to make things historic. What brings home this celebration is that LOUIS XIII has introduced the two largest and rarest crystal decanters of its Iconic collection, for the first time in India. LOUIS XIII Mathusalem, a 6L decanter, and the LOUIS XIII Jeroboam, a 3L decanter. Each of the 200 Jeroboam decanters released worldwide every year requires the skills of no less than 11 craftsmen. The final result: A work of art that is mouth-blown and then cut, shaped, and painted by hand. As a final touch, each decanter is individually numbered to keep a record of its rarity. On the other hand, the LOUIS XIII Mathusalem, a 6L decanter is only produced in a limited edition of 50 each year, A collector’s item, the Mathusalem is handmade by a team of 20 master crystal artisans. Since its origins in 1874, each generation of Cellar Master selects the most precious eaux de vie for LOUIS XIII, so each decanter is the life achievement of generations of Cellar Masters. Now that is true glory.
