FAMILY RULES APPLY

The BJP says leaders can have family in the party, but the organisation will dictate the ‘inheritance’ of younger members. The ‘one family, one ticket’ rule is to ensure this. The heirs are usually inducted for strategic reasons—to gain entry into certain constituencies/ voter groups; or in situations where the family is independently very influential. But across India, wherever the party has influence, dynasties have grown apace
