After the 2001 earthquake, which caused serious damage to the bridge, it was shut for two years for repairs

The Oreva Group, makers of Ajanta clocks and e-bikes, was given charge of the bridge’s maintenance in 2007

On March 7, 2022, the Oreva Group signed a 15year contract to maintain and operate the bridge

Shut down in March 2022 for repairs and renovation

Reopened on October 26, though the contract specified that it had to be kept shut for 8-12 months during repair work
