LET’S TALK ABOUT HOPE

Q. Why did you think this was a good time to launch Manzilen Aur Bhi Hain?

The last two years have been hard on people. I want to spread the message of hope. I want to showcase the lives of people, their hardships and their attitude towards failure. I hope this inspires viewers.

Q. What does it take to be a good talk show host?

You have to be a good listener. The idea is to have a conversation. As a host, you have to get the guest to drop their guard and make them believe that they are talking to a friend or at least someone who empathises with them. What I am enjoying about Manzilen Aur Bhi Hain is just how informal and organic the setting is. There is no big set-up in a studio with lights and large crews. We’ve done interviews in parks, make-up rooms and homes.

Q. What’s the one question you most enjoy asking your guests?

I am always fascinated with the answers that people give when they are asked about their fears or how they deal with failure. I have noticed that people really take their time to think about these answers, and in that moment, I feel they are very real. Q. Your mother is the first guest on the show. She has also featured in your social media posts over the last few years. How does she feel about being a social media celebrity?

She has no idea. She wonders how people recognise her even when she is wearing a mask, or why people want to click selfies with her when she goes to the temple.
