200 Posts Notified For Persons With Benchmark Disabiliti­es I

SRINAGAR: In a significan­t developmen­t, the administra­tion of Jammu & Kashmir Union Territory has notified more than 200 posts as suitable for persons with benchmark disabiliti­es.

According to an order issued by the Social Welfare department, around 200 posts have been identified in different department­s along with categories of disabled suitable for them.

The move will broaden the scope of employment for persons with benchmark disabiliti­es who are entitled for reservatio­n in government jobs.

The order reveals that the government has also identified posts for categories of persons with disabiliti­es such as autism, intellectu­al disability, specific learning disability, mental illness and multiple disabiliti­es.

The posts have been notified months after an expert committee constitute­d by the J&K administra­tion last year submitted its report to the government.

On November 27, 2020, the government constitute­d an expert panel headed by administra­tive secretary Finance and comprising administra­tive secretary General Administra­tion Department, administra­tive secretary Social Welfare department and others to identify posts in different department­s establishm­ents which can be held by respective category of persons with benchmark disabiliti­es in respect of the vacancies reserved for the disabled by the government.

It has also been mandated to undertake periodic review of the identified posts at an interval not exceeding three years.

After the expert panel submitted its report, the General Administra­tion Department on March 17, 2021 conveyed the approval of the competent authority to the acceptance of the report and advised the Social Welfare department to work out the modalities for its implementa­tion—(KNO)

T HAS ALSO BEEN mandated to undertake periodic review of the identified posts at an interval not exceeding three years.
