Eighth Semester Students File Criminal Complaint, Seek Action

Days after two groups of students clashed at Kashmir Law College here, a complaint was filed in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) Srinagar on Saturday seeking directions for police to file FIR against the accused.

Complainan­ts through their counsel filed a complaint before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate for initiating legal proceeding­s against the accused, who they alleged entered Kashmir Law College at Nowshera, vandalised college property, beat students and intimidate faculty members.

The complaints have also sought directions on Station House Officer (SHO) police station Soura to file an FIR against the accused who according to the complaint were carrying ‘deadly weapons' like German knives and knuckle punches to create an atmosphere of fear in the college on the fateful day.

Complaints Rahib Ahmad Sheikh, Tahir Farooq and Tahir Sidiq Bhat, all 8th semester students of Kashmir Law College in their complaint have alleged that one Akeel Khan, Majid Khan and Javid Ahmad who are not the students of Law College, forcibly entered into the college premises and resorted to hooliganis­m.

“On April 15, 2021, the above named accused who are not the students of the said college but outsiders forcibly entered the Kashmir Law College without any authority or permission. The accused were carrying deadly weapons like German knives and knuckle punches in their hands which are evident by the photograph­s annexed,” reads the complaint.

It has also been alleged that the accused created an atmosphere of fear and horror by thrashing the complaints in broad daylight.

“It is therefore prayed that the Hon'ble court may kindly be pleased to take cognizance of this complaint and proceed against the accused in accordance with the law. It is also prayed that the concerned police station be directed to lodge an FIR against the above named accused,” complaint adds
