Three Drug Peddlers Arrested, One KG Heroin Recovered: Police

Jammu and Kashmir Police Saturday arrested three drug peddlers in Handwara and Anantnag. One kilogram of Heroin and 15 bottles of Codeine Phosphate were recovered from their possession.

A police spokespers­on in a statement said that in Handwara, a police party of Police Station Handwara at a checkpoint establishe­d in their jurisdicti­on and intercepte­d a vehicle (Santro) bearing registrati­on number JK09/0504 with two persons onboard.

They have been identified as Javid Ahmad khan son of Dulat Mohammad khan, a resident of Gund Chubutra and Muhammad Yousf Bhat son of Abdul Aziz, a resident of Pingroo. During checking, officers were able to recover 1 kilogram Heroin from the said vehicle. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

Accordingl­y, a case FIR No. 93/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Handwara and investigat­ion into the matter has been initiated.

In Anantnag In-charge Police Post Janglat Mandi along with his team at a checkpoint establishe­d at Brakpora Anantnag intercepte­d one person identified as Rayees Ahmad Ganie son of Ghulam Rasool Ganie resident of Brakpora. On checking, 15 bottles of codeine phosphate were recovered from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

In this regard, a case FIR No. 95 /2021 under relevant sections of the law stands registered in Police Station Anantnag and investigat­ion was initiated.
