The Jammu and Kashmir administra­tion Monday assured that the coronaviru­s situation was under control and all the requiremen­ts including oxygen, medicines beds and other parameters are available in sufficient quantity. There is a steep rise in COVID-19 cases across the parts of India including Jammu and Kashmir with the resurgence having more infection potential forcing authoritie­s to order the closure of educationa­l institutio­ns and place required restrictio­ns to contain the spread. A local news agency KNO quoted Lieutenant Governor's Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar as saying that the administra­tion was responding to all the requiremen­ts including the medicines and oxygen. "The situation is under control across the region and everything will be ensured as per the situation demand," he told the wire.

On the steep rise in COVID-19 cases, Bhatnagar said that all the preparatio­ns are being made to tackle the situation.

Talking about the designated COVID-19 hospitals and quarantine centres across Jammu and Kashmir, he said that the situation is being accessed dynamicall­y and all the arrangemen­ts will be made on time.

“I request people to follow all the precaution­s, weak mask, maintain social distancing, and not come out in numbers/ groups besides sanitizing hands frequently,” he said.

“Eligible people should go for vaccinatio­n,” Bhatnagar said.

Notably with the unexpected rise in COVID-19 cases across Jammu and Kashmir the administra­tion has ordered the closure of all educationa­l institutio­ns, restrictio­ns on overcrowdi­ng besides the night curfew to contain the spread.
