Padshahi Bagh-Lasjan Road In Shambles, Residents Demand Macadamisation
SRINAGAR: The residents of Lasjan, Soiteng, Padshahi Bagh and Nowgam areas of Srinagar city Monday expressed anguish over the dilapidated condition of road from Lasjan to Padshahi Bagh and Srinagar city, and blamed the authorities for failing in carrying out the repairing work.
The residents said that the road stretch is full of potholes causing huge inconvenience to the commuters.
They alleged that the authorities failed to macadamise the road during the last summer without any reasons. “The main cause of the dilapidated condition of the road is that it sans any proper drainage and the rain water seeps on the macadamised road making it impassable for commuters.”
The residents appealed the administration to at least fill the potholes so that the inconvenience caused to the general public can be avoided. “The roads in the area are in worst condition, and travelling is a back breaking experience for the travellers and it also causes heavy damages to the vehicles.”
The residents said the road stretch has seen a huge rush of vehicular traffic during the last few months as it has become a vital link road for traffic coming from south Kashmir.
The residents said that the authorities shall take the notice of bottlenecks at several points and start road widening in the area.
“Despite protesting multiple times over the condition of the road, the authorities seemed to be in deep slumber.
“This road has a vital significance as it is only 5 Kilometres away from Central city— Lalchowk,” said a commuter, demanding macadimization. (CNS)
