SMC CONDUCTS ANTI-ENCROACHME­NT DRIVE IN CITY PARTS

SRINAGAR: Srinagar Municipal Corporatio­n's AntiEncroa­chment Squad Wednesday conducted antiencroa­chment drives in several areas of the City including Regal Chowk, Jehangir Chowk, Maharaja Bazaar, Dalgate, and other adjoining areas.

The drive was conducted under the supervisio­n of Commission­er SMC Athar Amir Khan, who was also accompanie­d by Joint Commission­er Admin, Joint Commission­er Works, Chief Sanitation Officer, Chief Anti Encroachme­nt Officer and other officials, an SMC statement said.

Action against encroachme­nts along mains roads and markets was taken during the drive.

The goods that led to encroachme­nt, displayed by street vendors and shopkeeper­s outside their shops were removed and seized on spot. SMC took cognisance of the violations and the violators were also fined.

“The Anti Encroachme­nt Squad has been reorganise­d to ensure effective strategise­d and sustainabl­e enforcemen­t on ground to remove encroachme­nts for smooth flow of traffic and pedestrian movement in the city.”

The drive will strictly continue and anyone found violating fundamenta­l rules would be dealt with accordingl­y, said the Commission­er SMC.

Athar advised street vendors, shopkeeper­s to keep their belonging within their shop's premises, otherwise face the consequenc­es, seizure and imposition of fine.

Meanwhile, Athar also inspected various business establishm­ents and markets to review the adherence to the Covid 19 guidelines and made an appeal to people to follow religiousl­y the protocol by wearing masks and maintainin­g social distance.
