SRINAGAR: Scores of government school teachers across Kashmir division continue to indulge in private teaching practices, however government has selectively taken action a few.
As the educational institutions continue to remain shut in the Valley amid unrest in the Valley, scores of professors, assistant professors and lecturers from various university and colleges who teach students in tuition centres and stay away from duties.
Government imposed a blanket ban on private tuitions by teachers serving in state government run schools saying it amounts to "moral turpitude" and is a serious violation of service conduct rules''.
owever, as per government services Act, government employees can't indulge in private businesses like teaching in tuition centres.
Despite that scores of employees of Kashmir University, and other universities, colleges and various other educational institutions and departments including and KAS officer are teaching in coaching centres, which is in a violation of the rules and block job opportunities for unemployed youth
Sources told news agency that despite the government order, the assistant professors stationed in the government degree colleges in Pulwama disobeyed the orders of the higher education department. Several Government teachers are doing private tuitions in many villages of our district. Though few unemployed educated youth are hired just to show no in-service teacher is working there, but most of the teachers are employed with the government.
Unemployed educated youth has now urged government to set up a monitoring cell of honest and active peers to enforce the rules and regulations to hold such assistant professors and other government teaching staff accountable from time to time.(CNS)
