Positive Kashmir: J&K Bank Win Inaugural Edition

SRINAGAR: J&K Bank XI on Tuesday won the 1st Edition Positive Kashmir KO Football Tournament by defeating J&K Power Developmen­t Corporatio­n (PDC) XI 5-2 in the final played at Synthetic Turf TRC here.

The first half turned out to be an exciting end-to-end affair as Hayat gave PDC XI a shock lead in just the 5th minute of the match. Bank XI soon responded through a goal by Adnan in the 10th minute. Ten minutes later, PDC XI took a 2-1 lead thanks to a fine goal by Immad. The Bank team scored the equalising goal through Aakif to end the first half level at 2-2.

However, in the second half of the match Bank XI blew PDC XI away by scoring 3 goals. Bank’s talismanic striker Aakif gave his team a 3-2 lead in the 55th minute, scoring his second goal of the match. Faisal scored the fourth goal for Bank XI in the 65th, while Prem scored the last of the 5 goals in the 75th minute. The 5-2 full time score was what many anticipate­d.

“Divisional Commission­er PK Pole was the chief guest on the occasion, and distribute­d prizes and mementoes to the players and officials. It is pertinent to mention here that a cash prize of Rs 50,000 were given to the runner-up team and Rs 1 lakh to the winners team, besides trophies and mementos. The officials of JKFA and Positive Kashmir NGO were also present on the occasion,” the JKFA said in a statement.
